Opportunities & quick wins
The Opportunities hub lists AutoPSEO's optimisation reports, each with a live headline number, so you can see where extra clicks are before opening one.
Opportunities is the front page of the Optimization section. It shows every optimisation report as a card, and most cards carry a live headline worked out from your Search Console data for the date range you have selected (the last 28 days unless you change it), such as how many striking-distance keywords you have and how many clicks they could add. Use it to decide which report deserves your time today.
What each report answers
| Report | The question it answers | Headline on the card |
|---|---|---|
| On-Page SEO Check | Do your strongest pages mention the searches they win in the title, meta description and H1? | Issues found in your last run |
| Content Decay Map | Which pages are earning fewer clicks than they used to? | Shown once you load the heatmap |
| Query Decay Map | Which searches are fading, and which are growing? | Shown once you run it |
| Keyword Cannibalization | Where do two or more of your URLs split the same search? | Cannibalized keywords and affected pages |
| Page Poaching | Which searches rank 4 to 20, and what would a move up be worth? | Striking-distance keywords and potential clicks |
| CTR Benchmark | Which results get fewer clicks than their position should earn? | Under-performing queries and potential clicks |
| Long-Tail Visualization | How concentrated is your traffic? | Share of clicks in the head, middle and tail |
The hub also links to Content Groups and Topic Clusters, which slice the same data by section or theme.
Why a card and its report can disagree
The headlines are calculated with each report's default settings: queries need at least 10 impressions, a competing URL counts as cannibalising when it earns at least 10% of the top URL's impressions, and the targets follow your own click-through curve. Several reports then use their own windows. Keyword Cannibalization looks at the last 7, 14 or 31 days, the decay maps default to six months, and the On-Page check always uses the last 28 days. A card is a pointer, so read the report itself before acting.
A sensible order of work
- Page Poaching and CTR Benchmark first. They find pages Google already ranks, where a better title or a stronger section moves clicks within weeks.
- Keyword Cannibalization next, because a split ranking caps everything else you do for that search.
- Content Decay and Query Decay once a month, to catch slow losses before they become large ones.
- On-Page SEO Check on the pages the other reports surface, to confirm the basics are in place.
Let the content engine act on the same signals
You do not have to work through these lists by hand for the articles AutoPSEO manages. Once a week the content engine compares each managed article's last 28 days with the 28 before: an article whose clicks fell by 40% or more gets a refresh task, and one shown at positions 8 to 20 but clicked far less often than that position usually earns gets an optimisation task. See Keeping articles fresh. New topics are checked against the pages your site already has, which keeps the engine from creating the cannibalisation the reports above look for (how topics are chosen).
In this section
On-Page SEO Check: keywords in titles, meta descriptions and H1s
Crawl your top pages and check whether the searches each one wins appear in its title, meta description and H1, with suggested rewrites for every gap.
Content Decay Map: spot pages losing traffic over time
A heatmap of your top pages by month or week that rates each one from severe decay to growing, so you know which articles to refresh first.
Query Decay Map: track searches gaining or losing clicks
The query-level heatmap: see which searches are fading or growing month by month, split branded from non-branded, and find the demand you are losing.
Keyword Cannibalization: find URLs competing for the same search
See the searches where two or more of your URLs collect meaningful impressions, which page leads each one, and how much traffic the others draw away.
CTR Benchmark: find results with too few clicks for their position
Compare each query's or page's click-through rate with what your own site earns at that position, and see the clicks under-performers leave behind.
Page Poaching: striking-distance keywords in positions 4 to 20
Find the searches where you rank between positions 4 and 20, estimate the clicks a better position would bring, and spot top results with weak CTR.
Long-Tail Visualization: head, chunky middle and long tail
Rank your URLs or queries by clicks, find the two knees in the cumulative curve, and see how much traffic sits in the head, the middle and the long tail.
