Dashboard & properties

My Sites lists every property on your dashboard with its clicks and trend. Each property's GSC Dashboard adds headline numbers, a chart and top tables.

AutoPSEO opens on My Sites: a grid with one card per property on your dashboard, each showing that property's numbers for the selected dates against the comparison period. Clicking a card opens the property's GSC Dashboard, with four headline numbers, a chart over time with annotations, and the top queries, pages, devices and countries. This page covers both screens and the cross-property Global Reports.

My Sites

Each card carries the property's favicon, a badge saying whether it is a Domain or URL-prefix property, and a small chart for the metrics you have switched on. Clicks and impressions are on by default; the metric buttons in the toolbar add CTR and position. The toolbar also holds:

  • Search sites, to find a property by name.
  • A sort menu: A to Z, Z to A, Most clicks, Fastest growing and Biggest decline.
  • Filter and the date range, the same controls every report uses (how they work).
  • Create Tag, plus a Tags button on each card. Tags let you group properties by client, market or brand; click a tag above the grid to see only the properties carrying it, and delete tags you no longer need in Account settings.

Only properties switched on in Dashboard Management appear here, and Include / exclude properties takes you there. Properties you leave out are still reachable from the property switcher in the sidebar. Until you have a property of your own, the grid shows the demo property.

The GSC Dashboard

Inside a property, GSC Dashboard is the first item of the Analytics section in the sidebar. The page is titled Google Search Performance and has four parts.

Headline numbers

Clicks, impressions, CTR and average position for the period, each with its change against the comparison period. A lower position is a better one, so a falling position counts as an improvement.

Performance over time

A daily chart of the metrics you have switched on. With a comparison period on, the earlier period appears as a dashed line beside the current one. The Annotations menu turns three layers on and off: this property's notes, your account-wide notes, and Google updates and platform events, which helps you tell a drop beside a core update from one beside your own release. Add annotation and Manage annotations sit in the same menu (see Annotations), and the image button saves the chart as a PNG.

Top tables

Queries, Pages, Devices and Countries, sorted by clicks. With a comparison on, each table gets All, Winning and Losing tabs, where winning means more clicks than in the earlier period. The search box in the toolbar narrows all four tables at once. SHOW ALL opens the full Queries, Pages or Countries report, and clicking a query or a page opens that report already searched for it.

The status line

Under the tables, a line reports how long the page took, how many rows it scanned and where the numbers came from: the live API, stored history plus the API, or demo data.

Why the query rows do not add up to the total

Google withholds rare searches from its query data to protect privacy. Its own explanation is that anonymized queries "are always omitted from the tables" but "included in chart totals, unless you filter by query" (Google Search Central). When the queries you can see account for noticeably fewer clicks than the property total, the Queries table says so with a note in the form "~N% data not shown (anonymized queries)".

Average position needs the same care. Google takes the topmost position your site held for each query and averages those values (Google's definitions), so a site that begins to appear for many new, deeper queries can see its average slip while no page lost a place.

Global Reports

Global Reports in the main sidebar adds up every property on your dashboard. It shows total clicks and impressions, average CTR and position, an aggregated daily trend (the five largest properties as their own series and the rest grouped as "Others"), traffic by search type, top countries merged across properties, and a property breakdown with each site's share of clicks, its change and a trend line. Filter it by tag to see one client or one market at a time.
