Indexing & URL inspection
Check whether Google has indexed your pages and why not, manage sitemaps, notify IndexNow engines, and watch your most important URLs every day.
The Indexing section answers the question every other report depends on: is the page in Google's index, and if not, why? It brings together Google's URL Inspection API, your Search Console sitemaps and the IndexNow protocol, and adds a daily tracker with history and alerts. The Indexing overview shows today's inspection count, your tracked URLs by status and how many sitemaps Search Console holds.
The tools
| Tool | Use it to | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| Sitemaps | See the sitemaps Search Console holds, submit or remove them, and inspect every URL of one | Up to 200 sitemaps per submission |
| URL Inspection | Ask Google about one URL, or a pasted list, file or sitemap | Up to 500 URLs per bulk run |
| IndexNow | Tell Bing, Yandex, Naver and other participating engines that URLs changed | Up to 10,000 URLs per submission |
| Index Tracker | Re-check your most important URLs on a schedule and get alerted when one drops out | Up to 1,800 URLs per property |
| Index Tracker Reports | Follow indexing health, lost pages, crawl freshness and time to index | Uses stored checks only |
One daily allowance for inspections
Google allows 2,000 URL inspections per property per day (usage limits). Single inspections, bulk runs and the tracker's scans all draw on the same allowance, so AutoPSEO keeps one counter per property, shown on every Indexing page as API calls today, and starts it again at midnight Pacific time. The tracker's daily scan never uses the last 100, so you can always inspect a page by hand.
Read-only until you need more
Your Google connection is read-only by default. Inspecting URLs and submitting or removing sitemaps ask for Search Console's full permission; those pages show Enable full access until you grant it (connecting Search Console). Everything else in AutoPSEO works without it.
Which tool, when
- You just published or fixed one page: inspect it, then use Open in Google Search Console to request indexing there. Submit it to IndexNow for Bing and the other participants.
- You launched a section or migrated URLs: inspect the new sitemap in bulk to see how much is indexed, and track the most important addresses.
- Traffic to a page vanished overnight: inspect it and compare the coverage state and canonical with its earlier checks in the history.
- You want to know before traffic drops: track the pages that matter and set an Index flip alert.
How AutoPSEO helps
The content engine delivers articles to your site and, when your site provides an IndexNow key, notifies IndexNow for each article it accepts, in every language (delivery). Add the new addresses to the Index Tracker to see when Google indexes them as well.
In this section
Sitemaps: list, submit, remove and inspect your sitemaps
See the sitemaps Search Console holds for your property, submit new ones or remove old ones, and bulk-inspect every URL a sitemap lists.
URL Inspection: check one URL or a whole batch in Google's index
Ask Google whether a page is indexed, why not, when it was last crawled and which canonical it chose, for one URL or up to 500 at a time.
IndexNow: notify Bing and other engines when pages change
Set up an IndexNow key, publish its key file, and push new, updated or removed URLs to Bing, Yandex, Naver and other engines, with every response logged.
Index Tracker: monitor the indexing of your key URLs every day
Track the Google indexing status of up to 1,800 URLs per property, catch pages that drop out of the index, and get alerted in Slack, Teams or a webhook.
Index Tracker Reports: indexing health, lost pages and crawl freshness
Turn the Index Tracker's check history into a health score, an indexed-over-time chart, lost and newly indexed pages, crawl freshness and time to index.
