Bing Overview: Bing search performance and crawl health
One page for how your site does in Bing: clicks, ranking, Bing's share of your search clicks, top queries and pages, crawl health and submission quota.
Bing Overview, titled Bing Search Performance on the page, is the starting point for a property's Bing data. It sums Bing clicks and impressions for the selected date range, compares them with the previous period and with Google, lists your leading Bing queries and pages, and adds Bing's own view of your crawl health, index size and remaining URL submission quota. It needs a saved Bing Webmaster Tools key and a mapped Bing site.
What the summary cards measure
| Card | Where the number comes from |
|---|---|
| Clicks, Impressions, CTR | Bing's daily rank and traffic statistics, summed over the date range and compared with the previous period |
| Average position | The ranking Bing reports per query, weighted by impressions across all queries it returned |
| Bing share of clicks | Bing clicks ÷ (Bing clicks + Google clicks) for the same dates, with both counts underneath |
The Bing clicks and impressions chart plots the same daily statistics: by day for ranges up to 90 days, by week up to 200 days, by month beyond that.
The share card is the quickest answer to "how much does Bing matter for this site". Google clicks come from the property's Search Console totals for the same range, so both engines are measured over identical dates.
The tables
- Top queries and Top pages: the 25 Bing queries and pages with the most clicks, ten per page, with clicks, impressions and Avg. Ranking compared with the previous period. Show all opens Bing Queries or Bing Pages.
- New rankings: queries Bing showed your site for in this period but not in the previous one, most clicked first.
- Top linked pages: the pages of your site with the most inbound links, as Bing counts them.
- Crawl issues: 50 flagged URLs, chosen errors first and then by inbound links. Show all opens Bing Crawl Issues.
The buttons above the cards jump to All queries, All pages and Crawl issues, and Connection opens the key and site form.
Crawl health and submission quota
The Crawl health panel uses Bing's crawl statistics, which do not follow the date range:
- Pages in index and Inbound links are the latest values Bing reports.
- Pages crawled, Blocked by robots, Crawl errors and 4xx responses are totals over the days Bing returned; the card says how many days that is, and the errors card shows how many were 5xx and the 4xx card how many were redirects.
URL submission quota shows how many URLs you may still submit to Bing today and this month, as reported by Bing's quota endpoint. If Bing does not answer the quota or link requests, those panels show zero rather than failing the page. For new and updated pages, IndexNow is the faster route: one ping reaches every search engine that supports the protocol.
Reading Bing next to Google
- Positions are not directly comparable. Search Console reports the topmost position your site held per search, while Bing reports its own average ranking per query and week. Look at the direction and the size of a gap, not at decimals.
- Bing refreshes its query statistics weekly and lists its top queries, so the latest days of a short range can be missing on the Bing side while Google already shows them.
- AutoPSEO keeps Bing responses for 12 hours. A fix you made in Bing Webmaster Tools today may not show until then.
If Bing sends meaningful traffic, the same opportunities apply as in Google: a query with many Bing impressions and a weak ranking is worth a section or an article. The content engine writes from your Search Console data and can announce each delivered article through IndexNow, which Bing reads.
