What can I submit to Google Search Console, and how?

Submitting & Indexing

Search Console accepts seven kinds of submission: a sitemap, a single URL for indexing, a fixed issue for validation, a temporary removal request, a change of address after a domain move, a disavow file, and a review request after a manual action. Each lives in a different report and does a different job. None of them buys rankings: Google says it does not accept payment to crawl a site more often or rank it higher.

Sitemaps and single URLs

These two are about getting pages crawled. A sitemap covers the whole site and keeps working in the background; Google rereads it at its own pace. Request indexing is for a handful of important URLs, and Google's recrawl guide is clear that asking again for the same URL doesn't make it faster. Step-by-step guides: How do I submit a sitemap? and How do I submit a single URL?.

Validating a fix

When the Page indexing report shows an issue you have fixed everywhere, click Validate fix on that issue. Google first checks a sample of pages, then recrawls only the URLs known to have the problem, not the whole site, and marks the issue passed or failed. The Core Web Vitals report works differently: starting validation opens a 28-day monitoring period and triggers no recrawl.

Removals and change of address

The Removals tool hides a URL from Google Search for about six months. It is not permanent: to keep a page out for good, delete it so it returns a 404 or 410, put it behind a password, or add noindex. The Change of Address tool tells Google you moved from one domain to another. It needs 301 redirects from the old site, ownership of both properties, and is not meant for http to https moves; Google forwards signals for 180 days after you start it.

Disavow files and review requests

Both relate to links and penalties, and most sites never need either. A disavow file tells Google to ignore specific links; How do I disavow links? covers the format and the risks. A review request, sent from the Manual actions report, asks a reviewer to look again once you have fixed what the manual action describes; see Google Search Console manual actions.

What you cannot submit

  • A request to rank higher. Every submission above affects discovery, removal or penalties, never ranking.
  • Pages for Bing and other engines. Search Console only talks to Google. Bing has Bing Webmaster Tools, and several engines accept IndexNow, but Google is not one of them.
  • A new website in one click. Google finds sites through links and sitemaps; How do I submit my website to Google? covers a brand-new site.

How AutoPSEO helps

AutoPSEO covers the submissions you repeat most. With full Search Console access it submits sitemaps in bulk and inspects URLs one at a time or up to 500 per run (Indexing), and it sends URLs to IndexNow engines such as Bing (IndexNow). Request indexing, validation, removals, change of address, disavow files and review requests stay in Search Console itself.
