Why is Google Search Console not showing data?
Common Questions
Search Console shows nothing when there is nothing to count or when you are looking in the wrong place. The usual causes are a property added in the last few days, a property that doesn't match the address your site really uses (http instead of https, or the wrong www variant), a filter or date range that excludes everything, and a site Google hasn't shown in results yet. Each takes a minute to rule out.
Is the property brand new?
Data collection starts the moment anyone adds a property to Search Console, even before it is verified, and Google says data should begin to appear within a few days. Charts for a new property only cover the days since collection began, so if nobody had added this exact property before, there is no earlier history to show.
Does the property match your real URLs?
A URL-prefix property only counts URLs that begin with exactly that prefix, protocol included. Search Console credits each result to the URL it finally lands on after redirects, so if your site redirects to https://www.example.com/, a property for http://example.com/ stays nearly empty. A Domain property removes the guesswork: it covers every subdomain and both protocols, and you verify it with a DNS record. See Domain vs URL-prefix properties.
Is a filter, search type or date range hiding the rows?
- Clear any query or page filter, including one carried over from a shared link.
- Check the search type. Web is the default; Image, Video and News only count traffic from those parts of Google, and the multimodal type has no query data at all.
- Widen the date range, and make sure it doesn't start after your last real traffic.
- Expect smaller totals once a query filter is on: anonymised queries count towards the chart totals only while no query filter is applied (Google's notes on dimensions).
Has the site appeared in Google at all?
If no page is indexed, or indexed pages never show for any search, there are no impressions to report. Open the Page indexing report and inspect your homepage with the URL Inspection tool. Pages not being indexed covers the usual reasons.
Are the newest days just late?
Performance data normally arrives within 2 to 3 days (About Search Console data), the most recent points are preliminary and may still change, and days follow Pacific Time. A blank yesterday next to a full chart is normal.
Reports with their own "no data" rules
- Discover and News: these reports only appear once a property gets enough traffic from those surfaces.
- Core Web Vitals: "No data available" means the property is new or the Chrome UX Report holds too few real-user visits for that device type.
- Old dates: Search Console keeps performance data for 16 months (Google Analytics help), so anything older is empty for every site.
How AutoPSEO helps
When you connect your Google account, AutoPSEO lists every property the account can read, which makes a mismatched or duplicate property easy to spot. For properties you switch to full storage, AutoPSEO imports the available history into its own database and adds each new day, so your data is still there after Search Console's 16 months have rolled past (Administration shows where to turn it on).
Put your SEO content on autopilot
Connect Search Console and your site. AutoPSEO scans it and plans the first topics right away. No credit card needed.
