How do I check rich results in Google Search Console?
Technical SEO
In Search Console, open the rich result reports under Enhancements in the menu; product snippets and merchant listings are under Shopping. Each report covers one rich result type and splits your items into invalid (a critical issue rules the rich result out) and valid (eligible, with any optional fixes listed under Improve item appearance). Don't look for an FAQ report: FAQ rich results stopped appearing in Google Search on 7 May 2026.
Which rich result reports exist
Google's help on rich result reports lists these types:
- Breadcrumbs, Discussion forum, Education Q&As, Events, Hotels, Image metadata, Job postings, Math solvers, Profile pages, Q&As, Recipes, Review snippets, Subscribed content, Vacation rentals and Videos
- Product snippets and Merchant listings, under Shopping
- Datasets and Practice problems, which the list still names, although Google phased both out of Search results and said it would drop them from rich result reporting from January 2026; dataset markup now serves only Dataset Search
Rich results that no longer appear
Older guides still describe features Google has since retired. The Search Central documentation updates record when each went:
| Feature | What happened |
|---|---|
| FAQ | Limited to well-known government and health sites from September 2023; no longer shown at all from 7 May 2026; documentation removed on 15 June 2026 |
| How-to | No longer shown on desktop or mobile; documentation removed in September 2023 |
| Course info, Estimated salary, Learning video, Special announcement, Vehicle listing | No longer shown from September 2025 |
| Practice problem | No longer shown from January 2026 |
FAQPage markup on your pages no longer produces anything in Google Search. Whether you keep it for other uses is up to you.
Reading a report and fixing issues
- Open a type. The chart tracks invalid and valid items over time.
- Click an issue in the invalid table to see example URLs. They are a sample, and instances found after the last crawl may be missing.
- Fix the template or data feed that generates the markup, not only the example page.
- Check a corrected page with the Rich Results Test or the live test in URL Inspection.
- Return to the issue and click Validate fix. Its state then tracks the validation.
An issue that returns within 90 days keeps its original first-detected date, so a recurring template bug is easy to recognise.
Valid doesn't mean shown
A valid item is eligible, nothing more. Google decides result by result whether to show it, and the gallery warns that the actual appearance may differ from its examples (search gallery). Markup also has to describe content users can see; marking up hidden information can make a page ineligible.
To find out whether rich results earn clicks, open the Performance report and switch to the Search appearance tab, which groups clicks and impressions by the type of result shown. Checking structured data covers the tools for testing markup itself.
How AutoPSEO helps
AutoPSEO lets you break down and filter its Search Console reports by search appearance, with the same comparisons as any other dimension: previous period, previous month or year over year. Watch the traffic for one result type before and after a markup change without rebuilding the view in Search Console each time (filters and dates).
