Does Google Search Console show my crawl budget?

Technical SEO

No. Search Console has no crawl budget figure, because crawl budget is not a quota Google allocates and publishes. It is the outcome of two things: crawl capacity, how much crawling your server can absorb without slowing down, and crawl demand, how much Google wants your URLs based on popularity and how often they change.

Whether you need to care

Google's own guidance is that crawl budget is a concern for very large sites, roughly a million or more unique pages whose content changes weekly, or medium sites of ten thousand or more pages that change daily. Below that, pages that are not indexed are almost always not indexed for quality, duplication or configuration reasons rather than crawl starvation.

The signals Search Console does give you

  • Settings > Crawl stats - total crawl requests, average response time and the mix of discovery versus refresh crawling over the last 90 days. See the crawl stats report.
  • Indexing > Pages - a large and growing Discovered - currently not indexed bucket is the classic symptom of Google knowing about URLs and choosing not to fetch them. See discovered, currently not indexed.
  • URL Inspection - the last crawl date for a specific page.

What actually moves the needle

  • Cut duplicate URL space: faceted navigation, session IDs, sort parameters, calendars and other infinite spaces.
  • Return fast, stable responses. Slow or 5xx-heavy servers cause Google to back off crawling.
  • Consolidate redirect chains and remove links to dead URLs.
  • Keep sitemaps limited to canonical, indexable URLs with honest lastmod values.
  • Improve internal linking to pages that are buried. See internal links.

Tip: noindex does not save crawl budget. Google still has to fetch the page to see the tag. To stop crawling of a URL pattern entirely, disallow it in robots.txt, and accept that those URLs then cannot be indexed at all.

Crawl budget is not a ranking factor. It only decides how quickly Google notices what you publish and change.

How AutoPSEO helps

The Index Tracker re-checks up to 1,800 URLs a day and flags pages that have not been crawled in 120 days or more, which is usually the first practical sign that a large section of a site is being crawled less than you assumed. See Index Tracker.
