How do I submit a single URL to Google Search Console?

Paste the URL into the URL Inspection bar at the top of Search Console, wait for the live result, then click Request indexing. The URL joins a crawl queue. Google gives no guarantee about whether or when it will be crawled, and none at all about whether it will be indexed.

Before you submit, check the URL can be indexed

Requesting indexing on a page that Google is not allowed or not willing to index changes nothing. Confirm all four:

• The URL belongs to the property you are inspecting, protocol and subdomain included.
• It is not blocked in robots.txt.
• It carries no noindex meta tag or X-Robots-Tag header.
• Its canonical points at itself, not at another page. See canonical URLs.

The inspection panel reports all four before you press the button, which makes it a diagnostic tool first and a submission tool second.

The quota, and what it is for

Each property has a daily limit on indexing requests. Google does not publish the number, and re-submitting the same URL does not push it forward in the queue. Save requests for pages that genuinely changed: a new article, a rewritten page, a fixed template, a page that just came out of a noindex state.

What to use instead at scale

• Sitemaps with accurate lastmod timestamps, which is how Google expects to hear about hundreds or thousands of changed URLs.
• The URL Inspection API, which reads index status for up to 2,000 URLs per property per day but cannot request indexing. It is a different API from Search Analytics, which returns performance rows and knows nothing about index state.
• The Indexing API, which does submit URLs, but is limited to pages with JobPosting or BroadcastEvent markup. It is not a general-purpose indexing shortcut.

Tip: you need owner or full-user access to request indexing. A restricted user can view reports but the button will not be available to them.
